Chimo Youth & Family Services is a voluntary program that provides a variety of supports and services to meet the mental health needs of children and youth ages 0-18 years in our communities.

Our Services

Clinical Services

Chimo offers a range of clinical services (play therapy, individual therapy, family therapy) that are tailored to the individual needs of the children, youth and their families.

Family Skills Building and Support Services

This is a 12-week service that includes two main components: a parenting psycho-education and support group, as well as in-home/in-office family support.

Brief Therapy

This is a 6-week service that provides solution-focused support to children/youth and families. It is typically the first service that young people and their families engage in.

Day Treatment

Chimo currently operates 6 Day Treatment programs. These programs are classroom-based treatment programs that are run in partnership with local school boards.

Sexual Abuse Response Program

A 6-week brief therapy service will be provided to address immediate presenting concerns and assess the need for longer-term therapy.

Crisis Intervention

The crisis line is designed to provide immediate services to assist children/youth and their families in stabilizing the current crisis.

Group-Based Services

Groups include a series of planned sessions that are designed to address the identified needs and goals of the child/youth and their family.

School-Based Services

Chimo works collaboratively with local school boards within our service areas to provide mental health supports to young people in schools.

Respite Services

The Wintergreen program provides overnight respite to children and youth up to the age of 18, with a variety of unique and complex needs.

Youth Court Support and Mental Health Diversion Program

Chimo’s Youth Mental Health Court Worker (YMHCW) provides support to young people with identified or suspected mental health needs and that involved in the Youth Justice system within the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The Arson Prevention Program for Children (TAPP-C)

TAPP-C involves two main components; fire safety education (provided by the local fire department) and assessment (completed by Chimo).

Live-In Treatment

Live-In Treatment is an intensive service that provides 24-hour care and support to youth residing within program. Chimo has 2 Live-In Treatment programs. Each program serves 8 youth, one for males and one for females from the ages of 12-18.

Single Session Support
