Chimo Youth & Family Services respite

The Wintergreen Program is specifically designed to support children and their families who require short term relief. The program provides a positive experience for our clients while providing respite for their care givers. Our expectation is that clients thoroughly enjoy their time at Wintergreen and will want to return on a regular basis.

Our program is located on 100 acres of property just north of Kinmount. It is fully accessible with ramps and wide doors for easy wheelchair access. All doors and windows have alarms to provide necessary security and safety for the residents. The program has been developed to specifically meet the needs of the individual children. Activities are based on the child's interests and needs. The staff group has a wide range of experience and training, including Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CPR and First Aid. Specialized training enables the program to match clients with staff members who understand the various challenges the clients may have. The program is outdoor-based, with activities that include hiking, biking, canoeing, swimming, cross country skiing and fishing. Bowling and a pool are available within a short drive. The residence has satellite TV, a video game system, and a games room. We offer arts and crafts to children who enjoy being creative and a wide variety of board games and other activities.

We accommodate 4 residents at any one time with a staff ration of 3 staff to 4 residents during the day and 2 staff to 4 residents at night at a minimum.
