CELEBRATING THE HOPES AND DREAMS OF CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES

SNAP - Stop Now and Plan

What is it?

SNAP is a group that deals with issues such as: stealing, vandalism, breaking and entering, assaultive behaviours, setting fires, shoplifting and trespassing.  The group is facilitated by 2 child and youth workers.  It focuses on children 12 and under as well as the parents of the children that attend the group.

When does it happen?

SNAP runs 3 - 4 times a year for a period of 10 - 12 weeks at a time.  The group runs either in the mornings or early afternoons.

**We do not run the groups in the summer as it is harder to get a 10 - 12 week commitment from the children and parents.

Where does it happen?

SNAP groups run at the Chimo office located in Lindsay, the Boys & Girls Club of Kawartha Lakes also located in Lindsay or at a local school that has requested the program.

DRAMA

What is it?

The drama group utilizes expressive art techniques (primairly drama but also music and art) to help youth improve their interpersonal skills.

For who?

For youth between the ages of 12 to 18 who are experiencing interpersonal problems (e.g. problems with authority, self-regulation, peer problems, and assertiveness).  We run groups within two age groups of either 12 - 14 and 15 - 18.  The group usually consists of 6 - 8 co-ed youth.

When and Where?

Groups are run at the Chimo office located in Lindsay and are for a period of 10 - 12 weeks at a time
