There may be a variety of reasons for the difficulties including poor organizational skills, relationship difficulties, problems with authority, attention difficulties or poor social skills.
Youth attend the program in a portable at each school. A child & youth worker is available in each classroom to assist with individual strategies. Treatment and academics come together in the Social Skills Acquisition Program. The Lions Quest program and the Equip Program are just two of the social skills acquisition programs offered by the child and youth worker in the classroom. The family component of the program involves regular family meetings with he Child and Youth Worker. A clinical worker is also available if needed. Psychological testing is also available if recommended by our psychiatrist.
Services are provided in a classroom setting and this match the hours of school operation however; parent or guardian meetings are held at times that meet the needs of clients and other agency staff.
Prior to school breaks safety plans are developed and recorded and are on file with each family and youth that include: provision of staff, Chimo Crisis Line and Children's Help Phone telephone numbers.
