CELEBRATING THE HOPES AND DREAMS OF CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES

CHIMO

We currently have 3 full-time Clinical workers on staff at Chimo.  All of our Clinical staff are members of the College of Social Workers and Social Service Worker's and they all have obtained a Masters of Social Work.

Children under 18, who are struggling with their mental health, whose behaviour is unusually intense over a period of time, behaviour that is not age appropriate and behaviour that is having a negative impact on family and/or school.  These behaviours may include but are not limited to fears, difficult or destructive relationships, self-harmful behaviours, outbursts of anger or rage, difficulty sleeping, rebellion, drinking and/or drug use and/or constant worrying.

This program benefits children, youth and families that demonstrate insight and who can put strategies learned in office sessions into action.

Through a variety of therapy modalities such as play, brief solution-focused, family and/or individual, family treatment plans are developed in consultation with the child and family to meet the presenting needs.  Including skill building in the areas of problem solving, communication, dealing with anger, trauma, improving relationships, altering perceptions and increasing self-care skills.

Generally Clinical services are provided at the Lindsay Office while Intensive Family Services are provided in the families home.  Services are contracted for 3 month periods with extensions approved by the Multi-disciplinary team at the time of review.  Services are generally provided between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday.  However if an evening or weekend appointment is needed then that can be arranged with your specific worker.
